Not our will but God’s Will…..

It has been a couple of weeks since I have updated you on our work here.  Many things have been happening.  Some good, some not so good but all is under God’s control.

Baby Promise was admitted to the hospital about 13 days ago due to decreased feeding and malnutrition.  We felt we needed to get some weight on him so he would be more able to tolerate surgery.  He had thrush in his mouth and his throat.  We started antibiotics and increased his feedings.  After these 13 days, he still had not gained weight.  Then on Wednesday night, our Baby Promise died.  On Wednesday, we saw some changes in his condition.  One of the doctors, myself and one of the nursing students talked with mama and Bibi about his declining health and we prayed for him.  If you remember, mama and Bibi are new Christians.  When I got to the hospital Thursday morning, I went straight to check on him and learned he had pasted.  We arranged for Bibi to come to the hospital to accompany mama by home with the body.  Frank, who has also been helping with Promise and Brayan, waited for them at the village.  They buried him that day.  Frank and I will check on the family often.

Brayan went to the hospital in Mbeya on Thursday to meet with the surgeon.  You may remember, Brayan needed to gain weight for surgery.  I have not received an update on him as of this time, but should hear something tomorrow.  I will post an update when I do.

We have had 6 student nurses and 3 nurses here from Harding for the last 4 weeks.  They left here on Thursday to go on safari before returning to the states.  I believe they enjoyed their experience here.  They built many good relationships with the staff here.  The 3 nursing students and nursing instructor from Oklahoma Christian University arrived last weekend.  So this week, we had a total of 13 visitors here at the hospital.  It is so exciting to see them work at the hospital and learn from us how things are done here. We have less supplies and options than you do back in the US.  It is often very difficult for Americans to see children who die here when in America that child would probably have lived.  We do not even have the capability to perform a blood chemistry on our patients.  When we have done all that we can with what we have, we pray and turn to God for His Will.  I have seen those who we thought would die, live….and those we thought would live, die…..This time, God thought is better to take Promise to heaven where he would no longer suffer.  Please keep the family in your prayers.

The mission church of Christ acknowledged the visitors from both Harding and OCU with a zawadi (gift).  These are called kanga’s and are popular here.  The girls were very grateful to the church for this jester of love.

Another visitor came to my back door of my house.  However, as you can tell from the picture, he WAS NOT welcome!

One of the girls from OCU brought me some items which I wanted.  One of those items was the. DVDs for “The Chosen”.  We have begun watching these episodes.  For you who do not know what this is…..it is a series about the life of Jesus.  I have found these episodes very good.  These girls have never watched these shows, so we are watching together.  (I have probably watched these episodes about 25 times!  I also hope to show these to people here.  I would encourage you to watch them as well.  They are free to everyone.  Simply down load the app The Chosen on your device.and enjoy.

I have one other picture for you.  It is a picture of 2 pigs in a basket going to the market!

That is all for now.  Thank you for your prayers, encouragement and support.  Many blessing to you all.
