HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I want to wish you all a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!  I pray that the Good Lord blesses you all throughout this year.

I also want to thank all of you who helped me to have a very successful 2013 at Chimala Mission.  I pray that we can all continue to work together to make 2014 even more successful.

FAREWELL TO CHIMALA MISSION

Today, I post my last post to this blog site.   I am extremely sad to have to do this.  Chimala Mission, especially the Chimala community, have been my family and friends for the last 6 years.  I came to Chimala believing God wanted me to help this community with the talents He has blessed me with.  Chimala Mission was an existing mission where I could help both the mission and the community.  My plans were to be there in this work for many years, even possibly the rest of my life. Unfortunately, the situation at the mission changed and my plans were then not my own.  I am back in Oklahoma where I will put my life back together and find a job.  I will also see what God holds for me next.  Even when things go badly wrong or we get knocked off our path, God is in control!  He will and can change an unfortunate event into something Great!  We, you and I, with the help of God provided much great assistance to the Chimala community....

The Green Mamba.....

I have never been a very good dancer....mostly cause I didn't dance except for a couple of years when line dancing was the rage.  When the "Macaraina" was the rage, I just thought it was silly.  But now, the "Green Mamba".....this is a jolt of adrenaline!!  Let me explain. When I see the "Green Mamba", my pulse goes up, my adrenaline surges and most people who are around start jumping and screaming.  That is because this is the "Green Mamba"...... This little guy is very poisonous and was on my screen door.  I was in the house and one of the girls was coming to get me for church.  As she reached to open my door, she noticed the snake and started yelling with that intense, high-pitched scream that young girls have.  She yelled for the security guard, but she was yelling in English and he speaks swahili.  So after yelling for the guard 3 times, she changed to yelling for her Dad.  Chad, the guard and another one of the Tanzanians came to...

Kapunga -- The rice farm

I took a trip to a BIG rice farm in our area which is run by some South Africans.   It was a really nice trip.  We talked with a couple of the South Africans and then took a brief tour of the plant and farms.  We are hoping they will work out a contract with us for rice at a good price.  As you can imagine the mission purchases a lot of rice each month. You will see many rice paddies in different stages of development.  The land in each paddy has to be very flat and even in order to flood the field and all areas receive adequate water supply. This farm has water rights for several miles.  They have a huge irrigation canal which runs along side many of their rice paddies.  Then their are irrigation ditches off of the canal into each paddy which they can open and shut as needed for each paddy.
